Oshawa This WeekBy Mike Ruta
OSHAWA — Christmas is full of traditions and The Barra MacNeils hitting the road around the holidays has become one of them.

The Nova Scotia Celtic band, made up of the MacNeil siblings, is touring a Christmas show for the fifth year. The Barra MacNeils play Oshawa’s Regent Theatre on Dec. 6.

The MacNeils have released three Christmas albums, including 2013’s O Christmas Three, and the show “just seems to get more popular as time goes on,” says multi-instrumentalist Stewart MacNeil, speaking on the phone as the band was on its way to Fort Nelson, B.C.

“Aside from being a tradition for us, for a lot of our fans, they really enjoy it,” he says. “It’s really great to come rolling into towns and see all the towns putting up their decorations for the season.”
